I’m a 16 yr old female living with both parents in Nebraska. my parents arn’t abusive. i have a roof over my head. but would like to get emancipated for more personal reasons..Parents are theives and drug addicts how would i go about getting emancipated?

I feel sorry for you. I hope you have a good job and provide for yourself with your own money, because that is what the court will look at. Would you have a place to stay for the next couple of years? If I were you, and this is very important for you to consider. You could call Children Services and talk to someone there. They will want to know all the info that you have shared here and all the info that you have not shared here. You have to tell the truth. Most likely the police will get involved and your parents may go to jail, depending on what they find when they come to your house. Children Services will take you and any siblings out of the house and put you in foster care. You may like the home you go to and you might not. If it is as bad as you say, don’t hesitate to call them. If you need more advice you need to go to your school counsellor and they will get things rolling for you. I wish you the best of luck.
