hi,
im going to study pre-med in the university of nebraska at omaha this fall.
and as an international student, i’m going there alone.

my uncle who lived in the US for 15 years told my parents that it is very dangerous to live alone in the university as there are lots of students who do drugs and do bad things
basically he made it look like im going to Afghanistan not a civilized country!

my parents became very worried, now they think i will end up drugged and killed by a serial killer or become a drug addicts or something,
they are really worried and they are making me very nervous this way

so im asking you americans, is living alone in the USA this dangerous? and what should i do to stay away from troubles?

It can be dangerous in inner cities. However, there are no large cities in Nebraska. It is one of the safest places to live. Your parents should not worry.
