Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) is a group of diseases in which the body does not make enough red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. About a third of patients with MDS develop acute myelogenous leukemia.     I don’t know if you’ll answer, but I’m 15 and my doctor told me that I am below average in blood? cell count. Will this cause me to be short of breath when I play hockey? Everything else she said was above average like my iron, it was just my blood cell count was low. Thank You!
